The eight geometries of 3D space
In mathematics, the eight geometries of 3D space, also known as the Thurston Geometries, are the fundamental building blocks of all 3-dimensional manifolds. According to the Geometrization Conjecture, which was famously proved by Grigori Perelman, every closed 3-manifold can be decomposed into pieces that each admit one of these eight geometric structures.
