PINTA Contemporary Latin America Art Show
The 2013 edition of PINTA New York – The Modern & Contemporary Latin American Art Show marked an important evolution for the fair, which had become one of the leading international platforms dedicated to Latin American, Spanish, and Portuguese art. Held from November at the historic 82 Mercer building in SoHo, the fair introduced a fully curated format that brought together approximately 60 galleries and exhibitors from across the Americas and Europe. Organized under the direction of Diego Costa Peuser and Ian Cofre, PINTA sought to strengthen the visibility of Latin American artistic production within the global art market while fostering dialogue among collectors, curators, museums, and artists. A defining feature of PINTA 2013 was its division into specialized sections, including Modern, Contemporary, Emerge, Centro, Video, and Next, each overseen by distinguished curators. This structure highlighted both established masters and emerging voices, with particular attention given to contemporary practices from Central America and young artists under the age of forty. The fair also continued its influential Museum Acquisitions Program, which supported museums in acquiring Latin American artworks for their collections, reinforcing PINTA’s role not only as a marketplace but also as a cultural catalyst for the international recognition of Latin American art.
