Physics of Portuguese Heritage: Architecture and Memory

The exhibition "Physics of Portuguese Heritage: Architecture and Memory" (*Físicas do Património Português. Arquitetura e Memória*) was on display at the Museum of Popular Art (MAP) in Lisbon (with one phase subsequently extended until March 2019). Curated by Jorge Figueira, the exhibition celebrated exemplary architectural heritage rehabilitation projects, reflecting on the history of heritage intervention and linking the subject to contemporary debates. The exhibition was organized around the metaphor of the "States of Matter": the "Liquid" state presented 12 recent projects; the "Solid" state featured scale models of 6 sites of strong identity; and the "Gaseous" state—housed in two circular structures—showcased two locations undergoing transformation: the historic centers (*Baixa*) of Lisbon and Porto, photographed by Nuno Cera and Inês D'Orey. The featured projects included works by architects such as Carrilho da Graça, Álvaro Siza, and Eduardo Souto de Moura, complemented by recorded interviews with figures such as Alexandre Alves Costa, Walter Rossa, and Rui Tavares.
