OFFF Lisboa 2008 was the eighth edition of the OFFF festival, a celebrated international gathering dedicated to digital design, motion graphics, and creative culture. Created in 2001, OFFF had previously held multiple editions in Barcelona and one in New York before making its first appearance in Portugal. The event took place in May 2008 at LX Factory in Lisbon. The LX Factory, an industrial building in the Alcântara neighborhood by the Tagus River, was formerly the site of the "Lisbonense Threads and Fabrics Company," one of the most historically significant manufacturing plants in Lisbon. Festival director Héctor Ayuso explained the move to Portugal by noting that Portuguese attendance at the Barcelona editions had grown substantially. The festival brought together numerous international creators for an event combining art, technology, and digital design, and was organized into several areas, including demonstrations (video, digital graffiti, photography), sound and interactive installations, new talent showcases, music, and an open area with free-admission parallel activities. Conferences, workshops, and interactive creative sessions also took place throughout the three days. The festival's main sections included "Roots" (the main conference stage), "Loopita" (experimental electronic sounds), "Open Room" (emerging digital talent), "Cinexin" (animation and motion graphics screenings), "Showplace" (the main exhibition), and "Mercadillo" (a shopping area). Of the roughly 150 artists present, around thirty percent were Portuguese.
