NY Metro Art Show
The METRO Show 2013 was one of New York’s most distinctive art and design fairs, held in January at the Metropolitan Pavilion in Chelsea. Organized by The Art Fair Company, the fair brought together an eclectic mix of contemporary art, folk art, Americana, historic design, outsider art, tribal objects, and decorative arts. Unlike many fairs that focused exclusively on contemporary work, the METRO Show emphasized dialogue between different periods and collecting traditions, creating a broad and engaging experience for collectors, designers, and art enthusiasts. The 2013 edition featured more than thirty leading galleries and specialists from the United States and abroad, showcasing works that ranged from fine prints and modern paintings to rare antiques and self-taught art. A notable feature of the fair was its strong educational and curatorial programming. Topics explored included folk art, outsider art, collecting practices, and contemporary printmaking, helping to place the exhibited works within a broader cultural context. The fair attracted significant attendance despite harsh winter weather. It drew collectors and museum professionals from the art and design world, reinforcing its reputation as an important event within New York’s winter art fair calendar.
