Mostra'14 Lisboa – 1st Edition an avant-garde art exhibit
Mostra'14 Lisboa – 1ª Edição was an avant-garde art exhibition that took place in the autumn of 2014 at the 8 Building, a landmark of urban rehabilitation located at Praça D. Luís I, in the heart of Lisbon's historic Cais do Sodré district. Inaugurating what would become a recurring cultural initiative, this first edition chose a setting as bold as the art it housed — a recently rehabilitated early-1950s building designed by architects Manuel Aires Mateus and Mateus Aires, with striking facades, a clock tower, and sweeping views over the River Tagus. The choice of the 8 Building was itself a curatorial statement, pairing experimental and boundary-pushing works with a space undergoing its own reinvention, bridging Lisbon's architectural heritage with a contemporary creative energy. Mostra'14 positioned itself from the outset as a platform for artistic risk-taking, bringing avant-garde expression into dialogue with one of the city's most vibrant and historically charged neighbourhoods.
