Mackintosh the Scottish architect of late 19th early 20th C.
The architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh (1868–1928) was a towering figure in Scottish and European design history. Mackintosh was a Glasgow-born architect, designer, and artist whose work blended elements of the Arts and Crafts movement with Art Nouveau and early modernism. He is best known for the Glasgow School of Art (1897–1909), considered one of the finest examples of Art Nouveau architecture in the world, as well as the Willow Tea Rooms and Hill House. His style was characterized by strong geometric forms, elegant vertical lines, stylized natural motifs, and a masterful integration of architecture with interior design and furniture. Though underappreciated during his lifetime, Mackintosh is now celebrated as one of the most original and influential designers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
