The annual London Design Festival is marking a new long-term home in King's Cross. Spread across a 67-acre site, the event occupied four distinct areas Cubitt House (trade), The Canopy (retail), Granary Square (immersive experiences), and The Crossing (installations) centred around the historic Granary Building and Central Saint Martins. The overarching theme was "Immersed in Design," with a curated programme of exhibitions, workshops, events, and design-led retail experiences woven throughout the neighbourhood. Cubitt House, the main trade hub, featured over 100 furniture and lighting companies across two floors, its exterior cleverly disguised by Satellite Architects behind a striking façade of grid modules and tall trees. Standout moments included a collaboration between designer Bethan Gray and Iranian practitioner Mohamad Reza Shamsian, as well as customised Casper stools by the likes of Tom Dixon and Anthony Burrill destined for charity auction. At Granary Square, Dornbracht constructed an ambitious immersive waterfall installation that triggered the square's permanent fountains to produce a wave effect accompanied by a soothing soundtrack from Wave Studios and a live daily string quartet.
