Grounds for Sculpture (GFS) is a 42-acre sculpture park and museum located in Hamilton Township, New Jersey, built on the former site of the New Jersey State Fairgrounds. It was founded in 1992 by sculptor and philanthropist John Seward Johnson II, whose vision was to make contemporary sculpture accessible to people of all backgrounds; a place where visitors could experience art in a familiar, informal setting. At present, it is New Jersey's largest sculpture park, featuring over 300 works by both renowned and emerging artists including Clement Meadmore, Anthony Caro, Kiki Smith, and George Segal seamlessly woven into 42 acres of meticulously landscaped gardens. Beyond the outdoor grounds, the park also houses six indoor galleries and offers experiential programs in art, horticulture, and wellness, with paved terraces and water gardens set alongside natural woodlands, ponds, and bamboo groves.
