Frieze Sculpture - Regent´s Park
The Frieze Sculpture Park 2016 was a landmark edition of the annual outdoor exhibition held in London's Regent's Park, from 5 October 2016 through 8 January 2017, with free entry to all visitors. Selected by Clare Lilley of the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, the exhibition brought together 19 major artists, including Conrad Shawcross, Claes Oldenburg, Nairy Baghramian, Ed Herring, Goshka Macuga, and Lynn Chadwick. World-leading galleries participating in both Frieze London and Frieze Masters extended their shows beyond the fair, with large-scale sculptures and installations dramatically animating the landscape of Regent's Park. The 2016 edition marked a significant turning point for the exhibition's legacy. Historically, only showing during the days of the art fair itself, the 2016 planning application confirmed the Frieze Sculpture Park as a new permanent fixture on London's cultural calendar, cementing its place as one of the largest free outdoor art programmes in central London. Adding to its public reach, programming partner Art Fund hosted regular workshops for the duration of the exhibition and produced a dedicated app featuring detailed information on each sculpture alongside an audio guide by Clare Lilley.
