Frieze NY 2013

Frieze New York 2013 was widely praised for its energetic atmosphere and strong international participation. Curated projects by emerging and established artists activated both the fairgrounds and the surrounding landscape of Randall’s Island, while special commissions encouraged visitors to engage with art in unexpected ways. The fair showcased a broad range of artistic practices—from painting and sculpture to installation, photography, and conceptual works—reflecting the diversity of contemporary art at the time. The fair brought together more than 180 galleries from over 30 countries, presenting works by many of the world’s most influential contemporary artists. The event combined commercial gallery presentations with ambitious public programming, including sculpture installations and artist commissions.
