Dries van Noten’s Palace of Excess
Belgian fashion designer Dries van Noten transformed the historic Palazzo Pisani Moretta on the Grand Canal into a dazzling “Palace of Excess” through the inaugural exhibition The Only True Protest Is Beauty. Bringing together more than 200 works of fashion, art, jewelry, ceramics, and craftsmanship, the exhibition celebrated ornament, imagination, and the handmade in deliberate contrast to the uniformity of digital culture and minimalist trends. Set within the palazzo’s richly decorated Rococo interiors, the presentation created a contemporary wunderkammer where creations by designers, artists, and artisans from around the world engaged in a dialogue with Venice’s own legacy of splendor, demonstrating that beauty remains a powerful and provocative force in contemporary culture.
