Canary Wharf Lighting Festival
The Canary Wharf Winter Lights Festival, featuring more than 20 installations by international light artists, spreads across parks, squares, streets and shopping centres throughout the Canary Wharf estate, transforming the financial district into a sprawling open-air gallery of illuminated art. Highlights included Prismatica by RAW Design — psychedelic prisms evoking an ice palace — and BIT.FALL by Julius Popp, a cascading waterfall of words drawn live from The Times newsfeed. Community engagement was also woven into the programme, with artist Mürüde Mehmet collaborating with local Tower Hamlets schoolchildren to create colourful floating sculptures made from recycled bottles, displayed on the water features at Jubilee Park as a commentary on single-use plastic waste.
