Borås Central Station
The Borås train station, a beautiful blend of National Romantic style and traditional Nordic architecture, was finished in 1900. Designed by the by that time renowned architects Adrian Crispin Peterson (1835-1912) and his son Carl Crispin (1867-1929, it looks almost like a castle with the symmetrical towers. With its distinctive red brick facades, ornate details, and elegant arches, the old station still is a beauty in Borås, a town which became an important centrum for textile produktion in the end of the 19th century. Therefore transport by railway has played a vital role for the growing town in the middle of the 19th century and the Borås railway junction was constructed in 1866. The town could grow into an important industrial area, when transport became modernised. Even person transport became more important under industrialisation and the Coast-to-Coast Line from Gothenburg to Kalmar runs right through the Borås city centre.
