Bauhaus at ICFF NYC 2026
One of the most talked-about moments at ICFF 2026 was the landmark Bauhaus exhibition presented by Rarify, in official partnership with German manufacturer Tecta and the Bauhaus Archive Berlin, held at the Javits Center in New York from 17 to 19 May as part of the NYCxDESIGN festival. Brought to the iconic fair for the first time, the exhibition paired original drawings, prints, and design artefacts from the Bauhaus Archive with contemporary furniture by Tecta, reframing modern design not as nostalgia or spectacle, but as a living, evolving framework that continues to shape everyday life. Notable highlights included a rare folding Wassily Chair by Marcel Breuer and upholstered sofas and chairs by Bauhaus co-founder Walter Gropius. The collaboration marked a significant moment at ICFF: it was the fair's first exhibition to unite a living manufacturer with the official Bauhaus archive, collapsing the distance between museum and trade fair, history and production, education and use — a fitting statement for a fair whose 2026 theme was "Common Ground: A Global Dialogue on Design and Shared Values.
