Art Dubai Digital 2026, held under the theme "Myth of the Digital," was curated by Ulrich Schrauth, Artistic Director of the UBS Digital Art Museum in Hamburg, and independent art critic and curator Nadine Khalil. Rather than treating digital art as a speculative or novelty add-on, the section positioned immersive and computational practices as a central pillar of the fair's conceptual and market agenda a meaningful shift for what is now the fifth edition of the digital program. Artists worked with code, data, sound, and even scent to create sculptural, spatial, and multisensory environments tied to themes of crisis, memory, and ancient knowledge. Digital works appeared throughout the fair alongside oil paintings, sculptures, and traditional installations, reflecting how thoroughly artificial intelligence, gaming engines, virtual reality, and data systems have become woven into contemporary practice. Five years after its launch, the Digital section had shifted decisively from early screen-based presentations toward installations, kinetic works, AI-informed painting, immersive environments, and computational sculpture signaling that digital art is increasingly understood as a trajectory within contemporary art history rather than a separate category altogether.
