AIANY Design Awards 2026
The AIANY Design Awards 2026, organized by the New York chapter of the American Institute of Architects, celebrated excellence in architecture, interiors, projects, and urban design. The program recognized 24 winning projects selected by an independent jury of architects, planners, landscape architects, and design professionals from outside New York City. Awards were granted at Honor, Merit, and Citation levels, with projects evaluated for design quality, innovation, sustainability, response to context, and contribution to the public realm. The annual awards continue to be one of the most respected recognitions of architectural achievement within New York’s design community. Among the 2026 Honor Award recipients were Amy Gutmann Hall at the University of Pennsylvania by Lake Flato and KSS Architects, Book Tower in Detroit by ODA Architects, and the Davis Center at the Harlem Meer in New York by Susan T. Rodriguez Architecture + Design and Mitchell Giurgola Architects. Other notable winners included the Studio Museum in Harlem, Terminal Warehouse, and the Robert A. Iger Building, Disney’s New York headquarters. The awarded projects demonstrated a wide range of approaches, from adaptive reuse and civic architecture to educational, cultural, and sustainable design, reflecting contemporary priorities in environmental responsibility, community engagement, and architectural innovation.
