IV Edition of the Royal Arts Prize - Pall Mall Gallery
The Royal Arts Prize is an annual award organised jointly by La Galleria Pall Mall and the Royal Opera Arcade Gallery, both situated on the prestigious Pall Mall in central London, close to the National Gallery and the St James's area of galleries. The prize is a unique creative opportunity to highlight emerging artists of any gender, age, or background. The 2017 edition was the fourth instalment of the prize — known as the IV Edition — running June 2017 at La Galleria Pall Mall. 26 shortlisted artists took part in the exhibition, drawn from across the world, working in a wide variety of media including painting, sculpture, photography, and drawing. The IV Edition winner was Mark B. Timmins, with Dr Martín Raskovsky and Oksana Levchenya-K. also recognised. Emerging artists Serpil Mavi Üstün and Hatty Butler were awarded a joint follow-up exhibition at the Royal Opera Arcade Gallery, having won the runner-up and visitors' choice prizes respectively. The winner of the Royal Arts Prize received a two-week solo show in one of the gallery's spaces as the top prize. The prize reflected La Galleria's broader mission, founded in 2006, to provide a platform for a wide diversity of contemporary art across all media.
