LiR – Lady in Red Art Gallery

LiR – Lady in Red Galeria de Arte, located in Lagoa in Portugal’s Algarve region, was one of the area’s most distinctive contemporary art venues in 2017. Housed within the Adega Cooperativa do Algarve winery, the gallery combined industrial architecture with expansive exhibition spaces, creating an unusual setting where contemporary art, sculpture, photography, and design could coexist. The gallery was known for presenting both local and international artists, offering visitors a diverse selection of artistic styles and media while helping to strengthen the Algarve’s growing cultural identity. Throughout 2017, LiR hosted a variety of exhibitions that highlighted emerging and established artists. Among the notable presentations were exhibitions by Spanish artist Marta Fresneda Gutiérrez, featuring expressive sculptures in wood and iron, and photographer Alexandre Manuel, whose minimalist landscapes explored atmosphere, time, and the relationship between nature and human presence.
