The 2012 IFPDA Print Fair was held in November at the Armory on Park Avenue in Manhattan the historic venue that served as the fair's home from its inaugural edition in 1991 through 2016. The fair was held the first week of November annually at the Seventh Regiment Armory, making it a fixture of the New York fall art calendar. The 2012 edition brought together galleries from across Europe and North America, presenting nearly 500 years of printmaking, from early woodcuts and traditional engravings to etchings, lithographs, and innovative contemporary projects by artists of international repute. As with every edition of the fair, the 2012 gathering served both as a marketplace and a cultural event, drawing collectors, curators, and enthusiasts from around the world. The IFPDA Print Fair has long been recognized as the largest international gathering of print publishers, galleries, curators, and collectors, bringing together centuries of art history through the medium of printmaking. Proceeds from the fair supported the IFPDA Foundation, reinforcing the fair's role as a vital institution for the preservation and promotion of printmaking as a serious artistic discipline and reinforcing New York’s position as a major center for the appreciation and study of fine art prints.
