Highlights on Swedish Grace, a variation of Art Deco in Sweden around 1920s.

Tysta gatan is located in the Östermalm district of Stockholm. A unique street, composed of a 120-meter-long cobblestone and known for its early 20th-century architecture influenced by Swedish Grace. The street is lined with exclusive smaller rental houses and townhouses, constructed primarily during the 1910s and 1920s and nowadays classified with high cultural and historical value. The architectural style of Tysta gatan features prominent townhouses with a distinctive design that includes higher and protruding buildings at both ends, creating a narrow entrance from Karlavägen and Lützengatan. This design contributes to the street's name, "The Silent Street," as it is shielded from through traffic, providing a quieter environment. The buildings are typically painted in marvellous soft, pastel colors such as terracotta orange, yellow and faint pink. These features create a picturesque and historically rich environment that is both exclusive and tranquil. The pictures were taken in May - look for a related post dedicated to the lovely small gardens, making this street even more unique and worth taking a stroll to discover!
