School trip to Lycée Italien Leonardo-da-Vinci
To learn Art Nouveau style and its architectural features, take a trip to Paris to find some marvelous examples there. Here, at 12 Rue Sédillot in Paris, you'll discover a beautiful example of Art Nouveau architecture designed by the renowned architect Jules Lavirotte (also known for the Avenue Rapp 29 just across the other side of the same building). Here are some key facts about its architecture: Fluid shapes of the facade and windows. Lavirotte's design integrates mythical and natural elements, creating almost a playful result. First a private residence, the building thereafter served several purposes and later became the Lycée Italien Leonardo-da-Vinci, an Italian high school. Playful and imaginative details, typical of Lavirotte's work, the building features art nouveau wrought iron railings and other decorative parts making this a true trésor and a must see when in Paris (kindly ask the school guard to let you inside and he will be more than wiling to show you around and give some glimpse into the interior design:)
