The Thiel Gallery in the royal park of Djurgården is one of the finest art museums in Sweden. The building was designed by architect Ferdinand Boberg and the magnificent art collection was assembled by the house owner and gallery patron Ernest Thiel. The gallery hosts a unique collection of works of art from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries by leading artists of the period including Eugène Jansson, Carl Larsson, Bruno Liljefors, Edvard Munch, August Strindberg and Anders Zorn. Summertime specilally, the gallery is worth an excursion to discover the park surroundings - which is the theme for this post. Combination of whites/beige and stone materials of the building and the light greens (notice the tiles), then matched with contrasting darker shades of plants and trees. Accentuated by the art sculptures in the park. The gallery's park is not only a place for a stroll but also a good outdoor spot for meditation and inspiration.
