3D-printed chairs that represent a new frontier in furniture design, where additive manufacturing allows designers to create sculptural, intricate, and sustainable pieces that push well beyond the limits of traditional craftsmanship. The featured 10 designers and studios are Joris Laarman (Bone Chair and Long Cell Chair), MEAN + Nagami (Mawj), Zaha Hadid (fluid stainless steel chair), Peter Donders (Batoidea Chair), New Raw (Ermis Chair), Ross Lovegrove + Nagami (Robotica collection), Patrick Jouin (Foldable TAMU Chair), Philipp Aduatz (Gradient Chair), and Piegatto Design Studio (Truss Chair). Each piece draws on a distinct material or technique from selective laser sintering and continuous fiber manufacturing to bioplastic FDM printing with many designs taking inspiration from natural forms like bone structures, cell patterns, seashells, and rock gradients. Together, the collection demonstrates how 3D printing enables a high degree of customization, minimal material waste, and the ability to realize complex geometries that would be impossible through conventional manufacturing methods
