World Press Cartoon - the ninth edition

The World Press Cartoon 2013 was the ninth edition of one of the world's most prestigious press cartoon competitions. The Grand Prix that year went to Michael Kountouris of Greece for an editorial cartoon depicting the European Union rescue team, with the awards ceremony taking place on April 12th at the Olga Cadaval Cultural Center in Sintra. From 2005 to 2014, the annual awards ceremony was held in Sintra, Portugal, after which the prize-winning cartoons were assembled into a traveling exhibition shown in countries across Europe, Africa, Latin America, and Asia. Culturgest, the Lisbon cultural foundation run by Caixa Geral de Depósitos, was among the venues that hosted the traveling exhibition of prize-winning cartoons. Following the annual exhibitions in Portugal, the World Press Cartoon has organized cartoon events in many cities and countries, with the cartoons on display being original artwork by the artists or digital prints certified by the World Press Cartoon seal, accompanied by a catalogue published in English and Portuguese.
